I am Taran, the creator behind the TaraNova project.
For many years, I have been devoted to original work with natural materials. I work with wood, stone, light and space. My work includes saunas, small timber structures, custom furniture, wooden sculptures, ceremonial objects and light objects.
My work does not begin only with a technical brief. What matters to me is always the person, the place and the atmosphere that is meant to come into being. I am interested in how an object or a space will be used, how it will affect the body, the senses and a person’s inner state.
For me, wood is not merely a building or artistic material. It is a living trace of landscape, time and growth. Each piece has its own grain, tension, scent and character. When I work, I try not to overpower the material, but to guide it in a way that allows its natural strength to emerge.
Alongside my work with natural materials, I also create music. I perceive voice, rhythm, breath and sound in a similar way to wood or space — as means that can help a person become quiet, open and return to themselves. Music is another way for me to work with atmosphere, presence and the inner space of a human being.
TaraNova is a space where these layers meet. It is work at the edge of craft, art, nature, music and personal ritual. Each project comes into being differently, but the intention remains the same: to create something honest, alive and true — an object, a space or a sonic experience that can accompany a person, slow them down and remind them of their own natural essence.
