Feather fans are objects that have accompanied human beings in ceremonial and ritual spaces for a very long time. In different forms, they were used by many Indigenous cultures — from North and Central American peoples to other nations that worked with feathers as symbols of lightness, breath, cleansing and connection with the spiritual world.
Traditionally, fans were used during ceremonies, rituals and sacred gatherings, often in combination with smudging or the burning of aromatic plants. They helped guide the smoke and cleanse spaces, objects and the person themselves. They were not only practical tools, but also carriers of intention, respect and focused attention.
In my hands, these fans are created as original ceremonial objects made from natural materials. Each one has its own character, shaped by the form of the feathers, their colour, pattern, the wood used and the overall composition. I try to make them feel not like decoration, but like living tools — objects that bring calmness, dignity and a conscious touch of nature into a space.
